Oliver Cromwell – Do you see yourself as the Godfather of Democracy & Parliament?

Oliver CromwellOh no. Democracy was not a new idea by any means. The Greeks had a democracy before time existed.

Democracy and Parliament in England also had been around for quite some time. Credit for the consception of Parliament should go to Simon DeMontfort. He called the first Parliament in 1265 and it had continued growing and evolving ever since.

The issue at this time was, as it always was, effective power-sharing between the People, and the Monarchy.
It is true to say however, that I settled the argument.

Thereafter, Parliament was more than a TRUE EQUAL in England’s Affairs. Things would never be the same again.
