Oliver Cromwell – How did you feel about the Convent at Grace Dieu in North County Dublin where your army slaughtered all the nuns?

Oliver Cromwell

Once again, rebels sought, and gained the aid and assistance from what should have been a neutral establishment.

For these, so called fighting men who hide behind women’s clothes we hold the utmost contempt. They murdered cruelly, innocent and undefended people of Protestant faith who were loyal to England’s Parliament.

Yet when England retaliates, they run and hide.

The Nuns of this un-Godly place placed themselves in deliberate mortal danger in defence of their Catholic faith. If we could have avoided their bloodshed, we would have. But they harboured, fed, armed and protected the rebels. We had little choice than to administer a firm signal of retribution.
